Carrying of Firearms-Alabama

In Alabama, the carrying or possession of firearms within any wildlife management area without a valid permit is prohibited.  However, this section shall not apply to any authorized law enforcement officers and forest/conservation service officers on official duty.[i] As part of the right to carry firearms on the basis of reciprocity and recognition,  apermit issued by Alabama state authorities is recognized by the following states: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi,Missouri, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont and Wyoming. Alabama recognizes permits from Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Wyoming. The permit will be issued to individuals from Alaska and Colorado only if the applicants have completed 21 years of age.  The term of the permit is one year. [i] Code of Ala. § 9-11-304
