Carrying of Firearms-Kansas

The attorney general is authorised to issue licenses to carry concealed weapons to qualified persons qualified after January 1, 2007.  Such licenses shall be valid for a period of four years from the date of issuance.[i] The fee for issuance of license is not to exceed $150 and the renewal fee is not to exceed $100.

The licensee who is in actual possession of a concealed weapon shall carry a license to carry concealed weapons or a valid Kansas driver’s license or Kansas nondriver’s identification card with the license to carry a concealed weapon noted thereon.  The licensee should show the license on demand of a law enforcement officer.  Violation of this section may result in the suspension of license for not less than 30 days upon the first violation and revocation of license for not less than five years upon the subsequent violation.

A license issued by any other state to carry concealed weapons shall be recognized as valid in Kansas, subject to the discretion of the Attorney General.  States including Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Vermont recognize a Kansas permit.  Kansas recognizes permits issued by Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia.
