Carrying of Firearms-New Hampshire

In New Hampshire, a person is guilty of misdemeanor if s/he carries a loaded pistol or revolver in any vehicle or concealed upon his or her person, without a valid license.  Selectman/Mayor or Chief of Police is the issuing authority of license to carry firearms.

The issuing authority issues license if it appears that the applicant is a suitable person to be licensed and that the applicant has good reason to fear injury to his or her person or property or has any proper purpose.  Hunting, target shooting, or self-defense is considered as a proper purpose.  Licenses are issued or denied within 14 days of application, and if denied, the reason is stated in writing and delivered to the applicant within 14 days.  The applicant may appeal a denial within 30 days to the District Court in the jurisdiction in which the person resides, and the court holds a hearing within 14 days. The states that recognize permits issued in New Hampshire include Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont and Wyoming. 

New Hampshire recognizes permits from residents of Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah and Wyoming. 

Permit is granted for a term of four years and cost for obtaining the permit is $10 for residents.
