In New Jersey, Chief of Police/Superintendent of State Police issues license to carry handguns. The application shall be on the form prescribed by the Superintendent. The application shall contain the full name, date of birth, sex, residence, occupation, place of business or employment, and physical description of the applicant. [i] The application shall be signed by the applicant under oath, and shall be indorsed by three reputable persons who have known the applicant for at least three years preceding the date of application, and who shall certify thereon that the applicant is a person of good moral character and behavior.
The states that recognize license issued in New Jersey are Alaska, Arizona, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Vermont.
New Jersey does not recognize permits issued in other states.
Permit is granted for a term of two years and cost for obtaining the permit
