Sale of Firearms-Hawaii

Gun law in the United States is defined by a number of state and federal statutes.  Sale or delivery of firearms is restricted in Hawaii like any other U.S. state.  In almost all the states of the US, an importer, manufacturer, dealer or collector shall be licensed under the Federal Gun Control Act of 1968 to be a lawful seller.

The law of Hawaii prohibits the manufacture, possession, sale, barter, trade, gift, transfer, or acquisition of assault pistols, automatic firearms; rifles with barrel lengths less than sixteen inches; shotguns with barrel lengths less than eighteen inches; cannons; mufflers, silencers, or devices for deadening or muffling the sound of discharged firearms.[i]  Sale of hand grenades, dynamite, blasting caps, bombs, or bombshells, or other explosives; or any type of ammunition or any projectile component coated with teflon or any other similar coating and is designed to explode upon impact with its target is also prohibited.

The law also prohibits the manufacture, possession, sale, barter, trade, gift, transfer, or acquisition of detachable ammunition magazines with a capacity in excess of ten rounds which are designed for or capable of use with a pistol.[ii]

In Florida, any person desiring to engage in the business to sell and manufacture firearms should file an application for a license with the director of finance of each county of the State annually.[iii]  The annual fee for the issuance of such license is $10 and shall be payable to said director of finance.  A license issued hereunder shall expire on June 30 next following the date of issuance of the license unless sooner terminated. Application for renewal of license shall be filed on or before June 30 of each year.

The law also mandates all persons who have received license in this manner to comply with all provisions of law relative to the sale of firearms.[iv]
