Gun law in the United States is defined by a number of state and federal statutes.  Sale or delivery of firearms is restricted in Louisiana like any other U.S. state.  In almost all the states of the U.S., an importer, manufacturer, dealer or collector shall be licensed under the federal Gun Control Act of 1968 to be a lawful seller.

Likewise, as per the laws of Louisiana also, the manufacture and sale of firearms and ammunition by manufacturers and dealers, duly licensed by the appropriate federal and state authorities, is lawful activity.  No firearm manufacturer or seller shall be liable for any injury, damage, or death resulting from any shooting injury by any other person unless the claimant proves and shows that such injury, damage, or death was proximately caused by the unreasonably dangerous construction or composition of the product.[i]
