Gun law in the United States is defined by a number of state and federal statutes. Sale or delivery of firearms is restricted in Wyoming like any other U.S. state. In almost all the states of the U.S., an importer, manufacturer, dealer or collector shall be licensed under the Federal Gun Control Act of 1968, to be a lawful seller.
A seller of firearms should adhere to federal regulations and mandates such as record keeping on all sales and background checks. Wyoming firearms laws prohibit any city, town, or municipality from attempting to regulate weapons purchase, possession, or sale in the state. A seller who fails to follow these regulations is likely to face federal and state charges for illegal weapons sale.
Authorization, regulation and prohibition of the sale, transfer, delivery and taxation, of firearms, weapons and ammunition by the state of Wisconsin are preempted by Wyo. Stat. § 6-8-401.
No city, town or county of the state of Wyoming shall authorize, regulate or prohibit the sale, transfer, purchase, delivery, or taxation of firearms, weapons and ammunition except as authorized by W.S. 15-1-103(a)(xviii). Zoning and other ordinances are designed for the purpose of restricting or prohibiting the sale, purchase, transfer or manufacture of firearms or ammunition, but in conflict with the above section and are prohibited.
